Overview

Farout, James Trivers, 2023
With Farout, artist and author James Trivers illustrates his stumbling trip through the 1960s. Trivers presents this in a series of savage images, illuminating the ferociousness of both witness and participant. More than 50 years have past since that generation came of age at the beginning of the Vietnam War in a country dominated by the "military-industrial complex." Did that generation react with teenage rebellion, and simply seek denial in the plethora of singers and bands who were creating the innovative music of the Sixties? Farout is a searing contrast to the mythologized Woodstock generation. His answer lies in this cognitively dissonant series. His stance exemplifies that ironic and hideous decade. Richard Armstrong, Emeritus Director of the Guggenheim Museum says of James Trivers, "He is an expert on that era and he draws like an s.o.b. Get this book!" Farout. Paperback. 40 full color illustrations. Author's preface.
