Farewell The Innocent
When Virginia secedes from the Union, Wil Harleck can hardly wait to put on the uniform and march off to battle like his older brother. With faith untested and the wide-eyed optimism of youth, the 19-year-old preacher's son from the Shenandoah Valley sets out from home blissfully unaware of just how much he has yet to learn of life, love, and war.

This is the incredible tale of the men of the Second Virginia Infantry Regiment, "The Innocent Second," as told through the eyes of an ordinary soldier, in all of its rich color and vibrant detail. Join Wil as he recalls his story of how the great and terrible War Between the States changed everything.

About the Author

Steve is a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief whose love for American history was inspired by teachers who brought history to life with passion and a flair for the dramatic. A graduate of Liberty University and a licensed minister, Steve has written many technical directives and professional curricula, and his article, “Keeping the Hook Moving” was published in the July/August 2009 edition of Navy Supply Corps Newsletter. Farewell the Innocent is Steve’s first work of historical fiction, culminating ten years of research on the Second Virginia Infantry Regiment, C.S.A.

Steve and his wife currently live in historic Williamsburg, Virginia with their children and their Siberian Huskies. In his spare time, he volunteers with Siberian Husky rescue, and is a member of the Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship. His great desire is to share his love of history with others in much the same way he first became inspired.
