Hake is a wonderful historical novel author. She skillfully weaves a story about realistic people while also weaving in Christian beliefs and life styles.

This is a great book for someone who likes witty, romantic Christian inspired stories. Although I have not read anything else by Cathy Marie Hake, I look forward to reading other books by her. Ms. Cathy Marie Hake has written a great story about a young woman who lived in wealth and prosperity until she came to America to make her new life. She has created characters that seem real and endearing who also live a life which is a testimony to God. Ms. Hake has written a complex story which is attention-grabbing and not only tells the story of Lord Syd, but also conveys the story of God's love.... I love the way the author explores the temperaments and personalities of these people in an endearing way. This isn't my first book by Ms. Hake, nor will it be my last. It's a great read!

There's so much in between the pages of Fancy Pants. Cathy Marie Hake delivers a very good book to her readers and even to those who have never read one of her books before-like me! I would definitely recommend reading Fancy Pants if you've never read an inspirational romance book before. If you have, then I know you're just going to love this book, too!

Barbara Caruso's performance gives even an ordinary romantic comedy dimension, and what might otherwise feel leaden takes on vitality and freshness. In 1890, 17-year-old Lady Sydney Hathwell flees the advances of a boorish suitor by traveling to her uncle's Texas ranch. Since her uncle doesn't like women, Sydney disguises herself as a man. Caruso's characterizations are varied, subtle, and believable. Her uncle's partner, Tim Creighton, wants to make a man out of "Fancy Pants"; a passel of colorful ranch hands tease the greenhorn; the lively, all-knowing housekeeper and the "soiled doves" (prostitutes) keep Sydney's gender-bending secret; and Sydney falls hard for Tim. Despite conventional plot devices and some lengthy passages that slow the action, Caruso's magic makes this story from Recorded Books Inspirational worth a listen.
