Overview

Would you think it strange if you'd never been sick a day in your life? John Percival thinks nothing of it. After all, advancements in genetics have conquered all disease. But when a classmate asks which parent he got his sea-gray eyes from, he realizes he has no memory of parents at all. His search for answers sets him on a path through danger that he didn't know he had the courage to face, to a destiny he isn't sure he wants - and the love of a girl that just might make it all worth it.

In a long-dreamed-of future, a worldwide consortium of techno-political leaders has imposed peace and prosperity on mankind, a - Pax Moderna, of sorts. But one young man is about to discover that this idyllic world, deceptively engineered to be free of pain and sorrow, is merely a cloak that tenuously obscures an ancient battle between truth and tyranny. As John Percival's true identity becomes clearer to him, so does the nature of his calling. As he wrestles with accepting or rejecting this burden, he comes to understand he does not have to shoulder it alone. Already underway is a secret, worldwide rebellion working to salvage a future of dignity and freedom by looking to the wisdom of the past. Under an all-seeing, all-powerful, global surveillance state, this congregation of misfits only survives by maintaining a microns-thin bio-digital profile. But a life of mere survival, as the world around succumbs to a thinly veiled despotism, isn't what any of them signed up for. And, comparative mythology aside, John Percival has no desire to be a hero. And yet, perhaps desire and destiny will align in book one of the three-part saga, The Wanderer's Ode.

About the Author

W. Owen Williams was born and raised in California, but subsequently moved all over the country to attend five different universities where he collected a handful of generally impractical liberal arts degrees. He eventually settled in southern California where he has been a professor of rhetoric and theatre at a small private university for the last twenty-three years. The Wanderer’s Ode series is the result of years of on-and-off tinkering in the occasional moments he stole while raising a family with his wife of forty-two years.
