In the days of the early church, slavery and indentured servitude were accepted practices in the world. Some believers also owned slaves or had servants and they were a part of the early church along with their masters. Slavery was never God's ideal, but He addressed how masters were to treat their slaves and servants and how slaves and servants were to treat their masters as was expected of believers.
