Overview

William Condry’s original guide, Exploring Wales, was published in 1970. This new edition retains Condry’s superlative prose but his long-time friend, Neville Jones, has added new material covering sites not accessible to the public 50 years ago and subjects unheard of in those increasingly distant days. The result is a guidebook to Wales which should last another half-century. This book is both a tribute to the early pioneers of Condry's generation and a call for a new type of society, living in harmony with ecological principles.

About the Author

William Condry was born in Birmingham, UK on St.David’s Day 1918. His 1995 book ‘Wildlife – My Life’ noted changes and expressed concerns which have become central to public debate about how we humans have plundered our planet. Bill was the first Warden when the RSPB’s Ynys-hir reserve in the Dyfi Estuary, west Wales, opened in 1970, and lived there for 30 years with his wife Penny, until his death in 1998.
