About the Author

ROBERT JORDAN (1948-2007) is best known for his internationally bestselling epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time®, which has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and is currently being adapted for the screen. A native of Charleston, Jordan graduated from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, with a degree in physics. He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army and received multiple decorations for his service.

HARRIET MCDOUGAL, former Editorial Director of Tom Doherty Associates, was Robert Jordan's wife and editor. She selected Brandon Sanderson to complete the series after Jordan's untimely death, and was his editor. She is the main editor of the Wheel of Time Companion.

ALAN ROMANCZUK and MARIA SIMONS were Robert Jordan's editorial assistants for a combined 18 years, and Harriet's for 14. They worked with Brandon Sanderson to complete the last three volumes of the series.

TERESA PATTERSON lives in Ft. Worth, Texas.

MICHAEL LIVINGSTON, PhD, is the foremost academic interpreter of Robert Jordan's literary accomplishment and legacy. Among his many other books are the Shards of Heaven trilogy of novels (published by Tor) and multiple award-winning studies of military history. At present, he serves as the Secretary-General for the United States Commission on Military History and teaches at The Citadel.

ALAN ROMANCZUK, with Maria Simons, has been part of Robert Jordan and Harriet McDougal's editorial assistant team for a combined 18 years, and Harriet's for 14. Dr Michael Livingston teaches the military and cultural history of the Middle Ages at The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. He recently co-authored the textbook reader Medieval Warfare, and future works include books on the battles of Hastings and Shrewsbury. These add to previous books The Battle of Crécy: A Casebook, winner of the 2017 Distinguished Book Award from the Society for Military History, Never Greater Slaughter: Brunanburh and the Birth of England (Osprey, 2021), and Crécy: Battle of Five Kings (Osprey, 2021). He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
