Celebrating a celebration, the
Postal Service's live showcase
Everything Will Change captures their performances from June 26-27, 2013, and was meant to put a bow on the band's story a decade after the release of their beloved first (and only, to date) album: 2003's
Give Up.
Ben Gibbard,
Jimmy Tamborello, and
Jenny Lewis hit each of the ten tracks on the original release, adding the quartet of additional songs that were bundled onto the 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition ("Turn Around," "A Tattered Line of String," "Be Still My Heart," and "There's Never Enough Time"), a cover of Washington indie pop band
Beat Happening's "Our Secret," and "(This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan" from
Tamborello's other project,
Dntel. As such, it's an ideal one-stop shop for everything
Postal Service have done and more, elevated by the crowd's energy, endearing stage banter, and live vocals, which inject a much-needed warm, human element to the band's recorded material and push
Lewis' contributions deservingly to the fore. Initially released in 2020, this live set was later reissued in 2023, just in time for the official 20th anniversary of
Give Up (coinciding tour alongside
Gibbard's main band
Death Cab for Cutie) and the 10th anniversary of this concert itself. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
