About the Author

After a career as a technical writer, engineer, history buff, and storyteller, and repeatedly telling my three children, I dreamt for many years of publishing my own historical fiction novel. By combining each of these enjoyments and the occasional eye roll of my kids, the plot for “Every Man's Dream” was born.
I worked as an engineer and a technical writer for many years in the automotive and industrial workforce. My publications on manufacturing processes were used by myself and others in adult education training. Through my experience of training people, I developed an understanding of different human qualities.
I have always tried to better myself through several outlets. I practiced comedy writing and performances and did financial writing, which also played a significant role in my pursuit of becoming an author.
My love for history began from my indulgence in many of the celebrated historical publications. I realized I had the ability to create and connect deeply with characters and storylines, embarking through documented historical occurrences, which brought me profound inspiration.
My strong points as a writer are that I can connect the dots and put stories together. My ability to write a historical novel involves this same sequence. One story that I was interested in was the story of Robert Smalls, a slave during the Civil War who confiscated a Confederate Naval Ship. Now, Robert had a son by the name of Robert Jr. Unfortunately, young Robert died at the age of two. My novel is made on the premise that Robert Jr lived and carried out an eventful life. As I studied history, I found how many people in our past have crossed paths and are somehow connected. I found that once I started connecting the dots, a whole puzzle of stories that were based on true events came together.
