Due to the complexity of healthcare finance, updated resources are needed for all levels across the continuum of care. The objectives are met by addressing current issues, including the impact of the Affordable Care Act, Accountable Care Organizations, and ICD-10 coding. The online version offers additional helpful tools.
Audience: The audience is anyone making financial decisions in healthcare, from an executive level to a frontline manager level. It is easy to read and provides case studies with real-world examples that provide a framework for operational decision making. Additionally, it provides a good summary of different business models and addresses requirements to maintain not-for-profit status.
Assessment: This is a much-needed update from the seventh edition. It is relevant and provides current applications of ICD-10 coding and the Affordable Care Act in all applicable chapters.
