Dan Boutwell is an author, professional city planner, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He retired from city planning in 2013 and now spends his time working endlessly on his family history. Among several volumes of science fiction, he has also authored several works devoted to genealogy.
Early in his professional career he entered the ministry and pastored a small Southern Baptist church in rural Oklahoma. At which time he also received a degree in religious studies from Oklahoma Baptist University. While attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth he changed his career direction and focused on city and regional planning, obtaining a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Dan eventually formed a municipal planning consulting firm and for thirty-five years worked helping small cities in Texas plan their futures.
Upon retiring, he moved to the rural county where he now lives on what he refers to as his “Little Acre” with his wife of fifty-five years and their pampered dog Bella. For most of his adult life he struggled with his weight. It appeared to be a losing battle until finally he summoned the willpower and the determination to escape from the obesity which had been his constant nemesis for most of his life. This book is his testimony of his journey from obesity to a new healthy self.
