Overview

Ernst Kris: An annotated bibliography offers the inquisitive adult to access the creative and analytic mind of an eminent art historian and practicing psychoanalyst. His original work in gems, cameos, sculpture has never been replaced. Yet, Kris would merge ideas between the psychological and genres, such as, caricature and the art of the insane. In doing so, he established groundwork for future disciplines among them, art therapy. Nonetheless, Kris' work would take another route during World War II analyzing German propaganda for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). These endeavors are marked by his ability to take psychological and sociological concepts to state new ideas, which would influence the thinking of post-War intellectuals. Yet, his last years were devoted to ego psychology and the prospects of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
