Dr. G.C. Pande (b. 1938), Department of Economics, Kumaun University, is popularly known as an applied economist in the spheres of Economic-Growth, Planning, oDevelopment, International Economics and Economics of Agriculture. More than five dozen research papers published in academically specialised journals to his credit relate to Development Economics. He obtained Ph.D. degree from University of Lucknow in 1968 in Regional Economic Planning and worked for U.P. and Rajas-than Education Service before joining Kumaun University. He has been associated with designing and conducting a large number of eminent field studies on behalf of Demographic Research Centre, Luck-now and Directorate of Economics and Industrial Surveys, Rajasthan. More than a dozen students have worked under his guidance for research. The recent contributions of Dr. Pande include 'Con-current Evaluation (six Volumes, 1986), 'Studies in Research Methodology in Economics' (1980), 'Economy of Uttarakhand1 (1975) and 'Economic Development and Planning' (in Two Volumes, (1989). Prof.D.M. Mithani is currently Head of Economics Department at the Maharashtra College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Bombay. He has a long teaching and writing experience of exceeding 25 years. Professor Mithani is also in the visiting faculty of the Department of Commerce, University of Bombay. He is the elected member of the Board of Studies in Economics, University of Bombay. He is also the Executive Member of the Indian Economic Association. Apart from writing research articles and conference papers, he has contributed more than 35 books in Economics.
