About the Author

Dr. Ashok Kumar (b. 1955) obtained his Master's and M. Phil. degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was awarded Ph.D. degree inL987.A prolific writer, Dr. Kumar has to his credit more than sixteen books and over one hundred research papers /articles published in various journals of repute. His books include: Manpower Planni.gin India, Developing Women & Children in India, Planning, Development and Disparities in Rural India etc. He has worked as fellow of Shri Ram Centre for Industrial Relations & Human Resources, New Delhi, as faculty member at the IAMR, New Delhi and recently has joined the faculty of NIPCCD, Lucknow. For last decade he has been involved in writing reports, articles/papers and supervision of the research projects.
