About the Author

A. Gilbert Cook is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Chemistry at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. From 1962 to 1971 he served as a consultant to Argonne National Laboratories in Argonne, Illinois. His research interests include the properties and synthesis of enamines and organophosphorus compounds as well as the theory of reaction of bicyclic compounds. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, The Chemical Society (London), Sigma Xi, Phi Lambda Upsilon, and Pi Mu Epsilon. Dr. Cook received the B.S. degree (1955) from Wheaton College and PhD. degree (1959) in chemistry from the University of Illinois in Urbana, and he completed a postdoctoral fellowship (1959-60) at Cornell University.
