Overview

The question should never be, "Does God speak to us?"
It should eternally be, "Are we listening?"

Samantha Jones heard God speaking. God even sent people close to her to speak on His behalf. She heard, but she never listened; never once took heed. Now Samantha finds herself in the biggest tragedy of her life. She is forced into the harsh reality that God is indeed a jealous God and will have no other gods before Him.

Joshua Jones has it all. Everything he could ever want out of life: An exciting career, wealth, a personal valet, a darling younger sister who worships the ground he walks on and a beautiful woman at his side. With all that he has accomplished, his has been an empty heart for thirty years.

The parents that led and guided him as a young child are no longer there to see the fruits of their labor. Thirty years without the love and undying affection of those that nurtured and loved him most. Again, God is always speaking, but is Joshua listening?

When God poses the scripture "The truth shall set you free," Joshua must rise to the challenge, seeking out this truth wherever that may lead him.

Lisa Jones, the younger sister is shrewd and savvy yet has the biggest of hearts. Three years younger, she does not have the memories that her older brother has. The only person she has known is still with her, loving her, guiding and directing her life and career. Hers is not an empty heart. For all she knows, it is her brother and best friend, Joshua. Yet again, God is always speaking, but who will listen? Her mother, Samantha?

If Samantha can learn to trust Him. If Joshua can at least sit still long enough to hear. If Lisa will but learn all that her brother has become is a result of their parent's loving, yet time-limited teachings, the truth, God's truth shall set them free; set them all free...

About the Author

Mr. R. Sheldon Jones, "Rick" to friends and family, was born in Illinois in November of 1957. His parents moved to California by the time he was two-years old.

Rick always had a vivid way with words and story telling. He tells a story of being in kindergarten and running home to tell his mom that one of the little tykes during recess threw an ABC block and knocked a female tyke's eye out. He even remembers the letter of the block, "D."

He claims that her eye rolled across the ground and his teacher, Mrs. Ayers picked it up, dusted it off and put it back in. One of two things had just taken place. Either the birth of creative genius or one heck of a little liar; either way, the rest as they say is history. Get it? "His-story" ha, ha.

Rick shortly studied the literary arts in college, but dropped out to have his first child, Erica. He continued his studies by taking an online writing course. In 2003 his first book premiered as a two story book "Guilty By Nature/Choose," but feeling "commissioned" (as he described it) to start this next book (his first novel) "Empty Hearts", he was not as diligent as he should have been in the nurturing with its publicity and promotion as he should have been, thus: a meager outcome.

Now with more understanding and experience behind him, his first book will be revitalized and the second story in this two-story book will have a sequel closely following with the possibility of becoming a trilogy.

"Empty Hearts," which was a twenty-eight year journey was so overwhelming in his soul that the novel was trying to birth before its time. "God's timing is paramount," Rick says, reflecting back. He felt that he had not lived enough to write the story when it was first shown to him by God.

Now Rick, Kimberly, his "queen" as he refers to his wife, and their three-year old daughter, Olyvia have recently decided to try life in Kentucky and may call it home in the future. "Only God knows," they both say.

Rick's ultimate dreams are to build his queen a five thousand square foot, five bedroom, three and a half bath "large-log" log cabin on a minimum of five acres, a ten thousand square foot "large-log" log cabin for family reunions and holiday gatherings and finally, to see his creations on the big screen.

"God says write down the vision and make it plain," but until then, Rick says, "I will write that all may know Him who sent me."
