About the Author

Melissa L. Holland, PhD, is Assistant Professor of School Psychology at California State University, Sacramento, and has a private practice specializing in work with children, adolescents, and their families. She previously worked in mental health clinics; community, child, and family agencies; a major medical center; and a Head Start program providing assessment and intervention services to children and their families. Her publications focus on the emotional health of children. Dr. Holland also presents workshops at regional and national conferences on children’s mental health and consults in schools on social-emotional learning and the use of mindfulness and cognitive and behavioral strategies with students.

Jessica Hawks, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Hawks provides outpatient behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families presenting with a wide spectrum of behavioral health disorders within the Pediatric Mental Health Institute at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Her research, clinical work, and publications focus on disruptive behavior disorders, parenting interventions, pediatric psychology (particularly chronic pain conditions and functional disorders), and program development pertaining to preventative and transdiagnostic approaches to pediatric behavioral health.

Gretchen Gimpel Peacock, PhD is Professor and Department Head of Psychology at Utah State University. She served as program director of the School Psychology Program from 1997 to 2009. Her research, publications, and professional presentations focus on child behavior problems and associated family issues, as well as professional issues in school psychology. She serves on the editorial advisory boards of several school psychology and related journals. Dr. Gimpel Peacock is coauthor of School Psychology for the Twenty-First Century, Second Edition, and Emotional and Behavioral Problems of Young Children, Second Edition, and coeditor of Practical Handbook of School Psychology, among other books.
