About the Author

The Author - Randy Oppelt: I am a father of three, grandfather of six, retired from a career in Parks and Recreation and live in Minnesota. I woke up one morning and this story was just there waiting to be written down. Once I wrote it down, I knew I needed to find someone to illustrate it. I immediately thought of my oldest grandchildren’s aunt and daycare provider who I knew to be a talented young artist. I asked her to illustrate the story and thus to bring it to life. I hope you will agree that she did a fantastic job!

If you are wondering if this story might be somewhat autobiographical in character, be assured that it certainly is. A personal search for a belief in my own specialness has been a big part of my life journey. If this is a part of your life journey, then I hope you will enjoy this story and know that you are not traveling this path alone!

The Illustrator-Ashley Knights: I am a mother to two brave, adventurous and the most special little girls. I currently reside with my husband, two daughters and our dog, in Wisconsin. When Randy approached me about doing the artwork for his amazing, special story, I had no other word besides, YES! I am an Interior designer by trade and a creative at heart. This story spoke to my mom heart, and I knew I was meant to create the artwork that you see on the pages. I hope you enjoy the story and the pictures that accompany them as much as I do.
