Overview

An adventurous tale of escape, love, betrayal, and hope,
Emerald is an emotional look into what it means to truly dream
in a world where fantasies are forbidden
and horrors are all too real.

The city of Facility 5 functions under an umbrella
of falsehood and lies. Compelled to work the ore mines
of a mineral-rich planet, the people of F5 are victims
of frequent injustice. After the slaying of innocent family
members, Bilahn, Sera and their friends aim to destroy
the very civilization that has kept them safe
from inter-stellar enemies for countless generations.
In their attempts to leave the forsaken planet,
they find themselves ill-prepared for surprises at every turn.

Entangled in a struggle for freedom and redemption
for all they’ve endured, two of the city’s most notorious slaves
slowly come closer to what they both want to avoid.
Above all the horrors facing them from day to day
in their seemingly hopeless existence, love is found
and unimaginable secrets are revealed. Love may conquer all,
but is it enough to survive Facility 5?

Includes 12 full-color layouts from the story!

About the Author

Chardell Brown was born in Detroit, Michigan – the child of hard-working parents, dedicated to encouraging their son to attain his lofty goals. At the age of six, he discovered a fascination with war games, using any toy he could find. Before getting ahold of a camera, Chardell would write down each idea to recreate later.
Years and years of creating war-games in his mind had developed an extraordinary imagination. By high school, Chardell had begun applying his abilities to animation, directing, and producing short stories – many of which went on to win regional and national awards in the form of film & animation.
Using scholarship funds, savings and family support, Chardell attended the prestigious College for Creative Studies, where he attained a BFA in animation, digital media & special effects. Several scholarship awards also earned him a free education at Specs Howard's School for Broadcast Arts.
With further support from his family, Chardell went on to attain his MFA in film directing and producing from Loyola Marymount University. He now resides in Los Angeles with his beautiful wife, Khristine.
