"Embedded With REMFs" is an illustrated novel, with military satire like that of "MASH" and the action of "Kelly's Heroes". Reporters Henry Baggs and Frank Ferguff went to Vietnam looking for a story. Foremost in their minds was producing articles free from Pentagon talking points and the biased opinions floating around most newsrooms. Interviews of the GIs in combat often clashed with the sanitized fluff handed down by the MACV public affairs officers. Disillusioned by ticket-punching career officers, who put lives at risk for publicity, and the new breed of opinionated journalists, Baggs and Ferguff sought a story that reflect the human aspects of the war. What they found was a group of rear echelon office geeks and three beer guzzling truck drivers. Led by a Green Beret chaplain, these unlikely warriors pulled off an unauthorized daring rescue mission in the chaos of the 1968 Tet Offensive.
