About the Author

Slobodan Petrovic is a professor of electrical and renewable energy engineering at the Oregon Institute of Technology, USA. His current areas of research include energy storage devices, solar cell and module reliability, high surface area anodes for lithium-ion batteries, MEMS sensors for smart grids, solar PV technology for developing countries, and electrochemical virus detection.

Peter Kurzweil is a professor of chemistry at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Amberg-Weiden (OTH), Department of Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Engineering, in Germany. His areas of research include chemical analysis, instrumental environmental analysis, and technical electrochemistry.

Jürgen Garche is a senior professor at Ulm University, Institute of Theoretical Chemistry, in Germany. He received his Ph.D. and habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) in theoretical and applied electrochemistry at Dresden University of Technology. Dr. Garche has worked on batteries and fuel cell research for nearly 50 years.
