Elaine and Jasper the Donkey: A Childrens Bible Story
There is a talking Donkey in the Bible (Numbers 22 and 2nd Peter 2). This story is centered around two characters Elaine and Jasper. It is a fun way of helping children understand that how God has designed them is exactly the best way. Trying to be what you are not, just does not work and you might miss out on a wonderful plan for you. I think adults will enjoy sharing this story with children of all ages. This story has been shared as a puppet play for children in Haiti during a mission trip several years ago and was well received bringing many happy smiles and laughter.

CHAPTER 1

Elaine: Where did you get that name Jasper? It's such a cute name for a donkey.

Jasper: I'm not a donkey, I'm a horse!

Elaine: Why do you think you're a horse?

Elaine: Jasper, you're a donkey. You look like a donkey, you talk like a donkey, and you smell like a donkey. And besides, you have big ears and a long tail and that makes you a donkey. Why do you think a horse is better and more important than a Donkey?

Jasper: Horses are stronger and more intelligent than a donkey.

You don't know everything, Elaine. Horses have long tails and big ears too, and you can't tell the difference between a donkey smell and a horse smell.

Elaine: Jasper! Horses whinny and donkey's He-Haw. Let me hear you whinny Jasper. And, stop being so stubborn.

Jasper: I don't know if you should be testing me like this Elaine. Well here goes - Jasper trying to whinny. He-haw!

Elaine: See, I told you so. You're not a horse Jasper, you are a donkey.

And - you should be proud to be a donkey. You don't need to try to be something else. Be proud of what you are.
