Rex Brynen is assistant professor of political science and chairperson of the Middle East Studies program at McGill University. He is author of Sanctuary and Survival: the PLO in Lebanon (Westview Press, 1990) and a coeditor of The Many Faces of National Security: Dilemmas of Security and Development in the Arab World.
