Description: If you are a novice to ECG interpretation, this book may be for you. Basic ECG interpretation is covered in a succinct and fun way with many pictures, tables, and bulleted lists to make learning easier.
Purpose: The main purpose is to facilitate learning how to read ECG strips. The book meets this objective, providing only essential information with basic steps of interpretation augmented with multiple graphics.
Audience: Any healthcare professional student who is new to ECG interpretation would appreciate this book. Trying to make sense of all of the squiggly lines in an ECG can be daunting. This book makes learning it enjoyable.
Features: The book covers single strip ECG interpretation of dysrhythmias from the sinus node down to the ventricles and including blocks. Nonpharmacological and pharmacological treatments are addressed. The many tables, diagrams, and cartoon logos throughout the book assist with learning. The ECG strips are easy to visualize. Each chapter concludes with a quick quiz. Information on obtaining a 12-lead ECG with basic information on axis and MI changes are presented near the end, along with multiple practice strips. There are a few inaccuracies and the ACLS algorithms are the old, 2005 edition.
Assessment: This would be a great tool for those who are new to ECG interpretation or are having difficulty learning it. Those needing more in-depth or more information on 12-lead interpretation should look elsewhere.
