About the Author

I have been knitting for over 30 years and designing patterns for almost as long. I taught myself to knit when I was 8 years old. Because there was no one to teach me, I saved my allowance, purchase a how-to knit book, one set of needles, one skein of yarn and practiced until I mastered what has become a lifetime love affair with knitting. As a child, it was wonderful to turn a ball of yarn into something I could wear or that my mother could use. After all these years, it still amazes me that with a little skill something beautiful and useful emerges from a ball of yarn.

I live in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the State of Virginia with my husband, and two cocker spaniels. I love taking rides to the mountains with my yarn and needles, finding a quiet location and knitting in the solitude of nature.
