What enters the air that is not life supporting is addressed through a story. Two children gain knowledge about the air after poor air quality interferes with their plans.

About the Author

Gabe Meeker earned a B.A. in Chemistry and a Doctorate in Biology. She taught Chemistry and Biology for a community college, worked in biotechnology research, and joined Lockheed-Martin, a NASA contractor, to develop biological habitats for the International Space Station. When Gabe was 8 years old, someone gave her a chemistry set. She fell in love with Chemistry, avidly completing every task in the guide book. She loved sharing her knowledge with children through volunteering with various youth groups, and demonstrating science concepts in school classrooms. Gabe raised two children with her husband, and has two grandchildren.

Editorial Reviews

Earth's Air offers a nice introduction to a basic scientific topic for young children. The information is solid and largely understandable for youngsters. The book has nice design: plenty of white space; good, easy-to-read fonts; colorful text and colorful, childlike illustrations. The overall feel is visually engaging. For a young reader, the variety of content (poem, activity, story, etc.) seems like it would maintain attention. And the glossary at the end helps reinforce the new terminology.
