About the Author

William Wegman, beloved author and visual artist, is known internationally for his photographs, videos, and paintings.  He has written numerous books for children, including the New York Times bestseller Puppies, and his videos appear regularly on Sesame Street.  Wegman and his family, which include his four dogs Candy, Bobbin, Flo, and Topper, divide their time between New York and Maine.

Gray Weimaraner puppies show off their driving, riding, and flying skills in this lighthearted board book. Wegman photographs the dogs in active poses, then draws and paints settings around them: one worried dog, ears and legs akimbo, is posed atop a roughly drawn bicycle careening toward the ground (“Yikes, it’s Mike!/ He’s riding a bike./ He might do better/ on a trike”). Skateboarders, sledders, and sailors also appear, and each spread is an entertaining combination of photographic puppy cuteness, linguistic fun, and expressively imagined journeys.
