"Originally aired on the A&E cable network, The Magnificent Ambersons is supposedly based on Orson Welles' original screenplay for his adaptation of Booth Tarkington's novel that was filmed in the 1940s. The disc offers a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratio. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are neither subtitles nor closed captions on this release. Supplemental materials include a making-of featurette and biographies of the cast and crew as well as Orson Welles. This is a fine release from A&E."
