In "Imitation Krabs," the evil Plankton constructs an imitation Mr. Krabs robot to trick the clueless Spongebob into revealing the secret formula to the Krabby patty recipe. Next, a wayward pencil wreaks havoc in Bikini Bottom when Spongebob's crude "Doodlebob" self-portrait comes to life in "Frankendoodle." You've got snail in the creepy "I Was a Teenage Gary," in which Squidward accidentally injects Spongebob with snail medicine with transforming results. Finally, in "Squidward, the Unfriendly Ghost," Squidward milks a case of mistaken identity for all its worth when Spongebob and starfish pal Patrick think their talcum-covered neighbor is a ghost. Like Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Spongebob has been embraced by older viewers who appreciate its verbal and visual invention, even if a few jokes go sailing above the heads of youngsters.
