Overview

Studio head Hal Roach directed this comedy himself. Nelse Tyler (Jack Gavin) rules over the town of Tyler with the help of his two sons, Milt (Bob Kortman) and Mose (Leo Willis). They're a tough trio who use their fists on their foes and each other. There is, however, a third son, Tobias, or Tobby (Glenn Tryon), who's a sensitive, peaceful soul. His brothers and father disparagingly call him the White Sheep. When Judge Matthews (Chris Lynton) comes to town with his daughter, Patience (Blanche Mehaffey), Tobby proves to have it over his kin in the romance department -- Patience prefers him. Tom Calvert (J.J. Clayton) is determined to end Nelse's rule and has him arrested for the murder of Newt Randall (Dick Gilbert). Nelse is convicted, but Tobby finds out that Randall is still alive and sets out to find him. He has to battle the ornery Randall to get him back to town in time to save his father from hanging. With this he manages to prove that he's a fighter like the rest of the Tylers. One of the two cameramen for this production was future director of note George Stevens.
