French director Jacques Rivette may never gain a wide American audience, but this DVD release of Va Savoir once again shows that he doesn't make movies like anyone else. This charming and low-key picture starts out as a naturalistic slice of life and slowly (some viewers would say too slowly) evolves into a realistic but romantic screwball comedy. This Columbia TriStar DVD doesn't really have any extras over language selections and trailers, but it does feature a beautiful widescreen anamorphic transfer and a crisp, hiss-free Dolby Surround Sound audio track. The movie comes with English subtitles, but is only available with a French language track.
