Like his star, Bob Steele, Harry L. Fraser was a veteran in the B-movie game, having written and directed cheap oaters since the late 1920s. You would think that he had gotten the hang of it by 1945 but you would be wrong. Although the screenwriter Harry L. Fraser had penned a somewhat suspenseful, if overly familiar, revenge story, the director Harry L. Fraser seems to have done little more than cry "action" and point cameraman Jack Greenhalgh in the right direction. The typically poor film stock and cheap sets endemic to bottom-of-the-barrel western filmmaking only add to the overall dreariness, of course, and only Bob Steele himself emerges unscathed from this clunker. And that despite the fact that at this late stage, it was perhaps none too wise to play a character nicknamed anything "Kid."
