"Blue Underground strikes again, this time with Jess Franco's notorious trash epic Sadomania. With the disc's lurid menus and obvious attention to detail, the company that consistently outdoes most other cult labels strikes at the heart of the world of exploitation with this entry. The flick is certainly not for everyone, but thankfully, those extremists that want it can now bask in all its uncut glory for the very first time here in the States thanks to this release. Presented with a decent Dolby Digital Mono mix and an anamorphic 1.66:1 widescreen picture that's a patchwork of elements gathered from countless sources in the good hopes of making the definitive edition of this wild and nasty gem. Sadly, an inadvertent transfer problem occurred on many day-for-night shots, resulting in replacement discs being available through their website for those looking to upgrade (/http://www.blue-underground.com). Bonus materials feature an 18-minute interview with Franco that focuses on Sadomania's lead actor and famed transsexual Ajita Wilson. The director's tender comments paint a fairly tragic picture of the star, whose underground work and subsequent disappearance from the world of film has made her a legend throughout the world of sleaze cinema. Also included are both the English trailer and a rather psychedelic Spanish one, thanks to the freak-out score layered over the softcore S & M film clips. As always from this label, the poster and stills gallery is a virtual archive composed of posters, lobby cards, and video covers from around the world. Talent bios for both Franco and Wilson have been supplied, rounding out a near stellar release for this company."
