"Exotica and adventure are on the menu in this double-feature DVD released as part of VCI Video's ""Psychotronica"" series. The Mermaids of Tiburon (aka The Aqua Sex) and Yambao -- Cry Of The Bewitched (aka Young and Evil and Priestess of Passion) are both presented in their original widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1; however, while Yambao has been given an anamorphic transfer that's enhanced for widescreen monitors, The Mermaids of Tiburon is simply letterboxed and won't fill up a 16x9 screen in this edition. However, both films have been mastered from their original negatives, and the colors are bright and lush while the images boast a pleasing sharpness and clarity. Both films are presented in English (Yambao was shot in Spanish, but appears here in dubbed form), with no subtitles or multiple language options included. After its initial release, The Mermaids of Tiburon was re-edited to include new footage of topless mermaids under the sea, and as a bonus this disc includes both the original and nudie-cutie versions of the picture; three vintage trailers are also on deck. VCI have certainly done a fine job with both films, and fans of tropical madness of the Fifties and Sixties ought to have a great time with this DVD."
