About the Author

Gearóid Denvir is a Professor of Modern Irish at Scoil na Gaeilge, NUI Galway, where he is head of school. He has published many articles and books on various aspects of Irish literature and culture. His books include Aistí Phádraic Uí Chonaire (1978), Cadhan Aonair: Saothar Liteartha Mháirtín Uí Chadhain (1987), Amhráin Choilm de Bhailís (1996), Litríocht agus Pobal (1997) and Rogha an Chéid (2000).
