About the Author

Radhwan Al-Zidan is a specialized pharmacist with more than ten years of professional experience from working as a hospital pharmacist, community pharmacist, and from his current position in academia. He is currently associated with the Department of Pharmaceutics at the College of Pharmacy at Mosul University, Mosul, Iraq, where he is the rapporteur of the department.

It is unique in that it combines the previous U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) letter classification with the new pregnancy and lactation labeling rile (PLLR). The book is well organized and uniformed in structure, following a style of other monograph references.
Purpose: This reference is designed to help healthcare professionals in their assessment of appropriate drug use during pregnancy. Many healthcare providers were previously dependent on the FDA letter labeling of drugs in pregnancy, however, this has been complicated by the implementation of the PLLR rule, thus restricting the decisions of healthcare providers who may not be accustomed to this new labeling. In order to streamline the process, the author set out to publish a reference that uses both the traditional FDA letter classification and the new PLLR requirements side by side.
