About the Author

The author, John T. Potts Jr, Lieutenant Commander, USCG(ret), was born in 1938. He had 7 very interesting careers including over 21 years in the Coast Guard including captain of a Coast Guard ship, book store/art gallery owner, Water Survival instructor at a merchant marine school, pastor of 3 Methodist churches simultaneously, addictions counselor, parole/probation officer with Maryland's Drinking Driver Monitor Program, Bible smuggler to Communist countries, and, clay artist. This memoir explains the author's dedication to each of these occupations and how it affected his family, marriage and how MENTAL HEALTH issues and RELIGIOUS ZEAL played a large part of this adventure. The author is retired, 76 years old at this writing, married to his second wife. He has 4 children and 8 grandchildren.
