Don't Put Headphones on the Cat
Marriage, parenting, having a career….Being Supermom was supposed to be so easy. And it was--right up until the children came along. Life is full of unexpected pain and pleasure, and there is a lesson in every experience. Rose Godfrey chronicled her family's homeschooling adventures in her first book, The Pig in the Pantry and Other Homeschool Tales. In this follow-up collection of essays, Rose reflects on life, parenting, and trusting God through difficult times. She ponders the tough questions: Does doing the laundry really make the washer get dirty? What if her children grow up before she does? And, of course, should the cat be allowed to wear headphones? "Motherhood is divas and dancing girls, sword fights and silly songs, headphones on the cat, lizards in the laundry, broken hearts, and broken limbs. It is praying in the emergency room, crying in the night, kissing owies, cleaning boogers off the wall, and holding a puking child without letting go."

About the Author

Rose Godfrey is a speech pathologist turned homeschooling mom turned writer and motivational speaker who lives on a small farm in northern California with her family, several brave cats, and a collection of farm animals.

Using her background as a speech-language pathologist, Rose draws upon everyday life to find teachable moments as they come. Her column, Learning at Home, appears in the Appeal-Democrat and is part slice-of-life, part homeschool news.

Rose's days are full of sticky hugs, sloppy kisses, wrestling matches, prayer and other assorted motherly tasks, all of which bring more satisfaction than she ever imagined. If she had any free time, she'd probably take a nap.
