During the late 1980s, a rural Virginia area experienced an unprecedented number of UFO sightings continuing for months. Danny Gordon, a radio reporter who wrote the first story about a sighting, found himself dragged into the center of the scrutiny that followed, from visiting UFO buffs, supermarket tabloid reporters, conspiracy theorists, television shows (including a segment of NBC-TV's "Unsolved Mysteries") and more that actually placed him in harm's way. And then, he looked up and began seeing more UFOs than he ever wanted to know anything about. Originally published in 1988 by Gordon and Paul Dellinger, another reporter, this edition is updated and has two new chapters detailing what has happened since. It also gives an overview of the UFO phenomena in history, in science fiction tales and movies, and speculates about what could lie behind it.

About the Author

Danny Gordon was an award-winning news director of WYVE Radio in Wytheville, Virginia, at the time of the events described in this book. Before that, he was news and sports editor of the Southwest Virginia Enterprise, a Wytheville newspaper. In 1987, he won all the news and sports broadcasting awards given by the Virginia United Press International Group, and was named 1987 Newsman of the Year in his radio division. His UFO encounters have been the subject of newspaper, radio, television and magazine accounts nationally. Now retired, he has conducted a number of UFO conferences and given lectures on the subject of UFOs, including his own unique experiences.
Paul Dellinger was a news bureau chief for The Roanoke Times at the time of these events. He reported for the newspaper from 1963 until he retired in 2006. During his previous Army service, he was editor of the West Point newspaper. He is the author and co-author of a number of novels, magazine and anthology short stories, and articles on various topics. His publications range from science fiction to westerns including "Fuzzy," (with Tom Angleberger), "The Sky-Riders" (with Mike Allen), "The Secret Invasion" and "Gunfight at Gower Gulch" Many of his short stories were collected in "Mr. Lazarus and Other Stories."
