Overview

In the midst of today's fast paced, technology driven society a 10-year old named Mason finds the simplicity in
raising chickens in his backyard rewarding. Mason's story begins when he finds his mother's 4-H guide and a
book on chickens in his grandparents' dusty old farm building. Secretly reading the books in bed at night he
decides 4-H is for him.

After Mason convinces his parents he is responsible and will do what it takes in 4-H, he has some trouble with
the various 4-H activities, as he attempts to try things he's never done before. He has to navigate several
obstacles, including a sibling who wants to have his fingers in everything his big brother is doing.

Finally, Mason's dream of having chickens comes true. But once the baby chicks arrive there are new
challenges that the whole family takes on together. Can Mason handle the unexpected? Will he be able to find
time for friends, sports and other activities? Will he see the importance of his family even with a pesky
younger brother in the mix? Let's see if you can pick out what is learned along the way!
