Overview

Many people get dogs as companions for their children, but the children are often entirely left out of the training process. Allowing the children to participate will not only help them learn responsibility, but will help them to understand and be close to their dogs. Simple training expercises that can easily be done by children and their parents help children to feel included in all the excitement that comes with having a new dog. Author Michael Tucker knows just the right way to talk to children: his tone is always kind, never patronizing. Parents, children and certainly dogs will find his sensible, patient approach to training irresistible. Michael Tucker is an internationally renowned dog trainer and the author of Howell s Dog Training Made Easy.

About the Author

About The Author
Michael Tucker was born in England in 1934 and became interested in obedience dog training at the age of sixteen. This led him to become an instructor at the Royal Air Force Police Dog Training Centre during his National Service, and in 1956 he began teaching at the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. He migrated with his family to Australia in 1967 to continue his work with the Royal Guide Dogs of Australia. Eight years later, he set up his own dog training school in Melbourne. His expertise is sought far and wide and, in recent years, he has given successful seminars at many dog-training establishments overseas, including those in the United States and West Indies. His earlier books are Dog Training Made Easy, Solving Your Dog Problems, Dog Training Step by Step (all published by Howell Book House) and The Eyes That Lead.
