What would you do if your family moved you from the only place you know—New York City—and you had to leave behind all your friends and familiar surroundings to a strange place, not just any strange place, Macon, Georgia? Times Square and endless shopping are out. Moving from the Big Apple to the Peach would probably be hard on any preteen, but especially twelve-year-old Ashley Williams, an Ethiopian Jew.

Ashley has heard some pretty scary stories about the Deep South. Now she has to move there. How will the South handle an Ethiopian Jewish girl? Ashley finds out just how hard life can be when she perceives people and places a certain way.

About the Author

Linda G. Bentley is a native of Macon, Georgia, who has always had a love for anything artistic—acting, dancing, and writing. She has a BA in mass communications from Fort Valley State University and has often indulged her thirst for creativity by moving to New York City in the mid-nineties and taking small parts in off-Broadway productions. She made her television debut in 1997 with a small role on the daytime drama One Life to Live. Linda began writing books in 1996, but none were published until Dodging Passover in 2010.

Linda gets her inspiration from God and her life experiences. She has a keen interest in Jewish and African-American history, which can easily be seen in her work. Linda currently resides in Macon, Georgia, with her husband, Calvin, and their two girls, Christina and Cierra. She spends her creative time writing and acting in local theater.
