Doc Knoll’s Beginner’s Guide to Salt Water Fishing was written for the novice angler who has a desire to one day fish the waters off the US American coast. Whether you live in Maine, Florida, and Texas or on the way out west coast of our country, the novice angler can use this book’s information to help have an enjoyable time finding what fish are present in the local waters.
The book touches on all the subjects that a beginner would have circulating through his or her brain while they pondered this new and adventurous undertaking. I try not to “pull my punches” and give direct answers to possible situations the novice will face in their endeavor. This information is augmented by numerous short stories of situations I personally have encountered while undertaking my own pursuit of salt water fish.
Many readers have expressed their positive opinions of the images and sketches used as instructional tools as well as designed pause to let the reader imagine what salt water angling really must be like.
The surf angler is the primary target of the book since this is the first hurdle in angling that most salt water novices attempt to conquer. The book will also shed information about other species that frequent our coastal waters and how it is possible to catch all of the species or just the ones that frequent the area where the novice will be fishing.
Therefore, if the angler is 10 or 70 there is a wealth of information concerning gear, casting, safety, tackle, lures and on and on in this book. There is even a small section of some of my favorite recipes for the fish the novice may catch on their first few excursions to the coast.
So whether they fish from the beach, boat or from a pier there is something worth reading in The Beginner’s Guide to Salt Water Fishing.
