Andrii Portnov introduces this place—Dnipro (Ekaterynoslav/Katerynoslav, Dnipropetrovsk/Dnepropetrovsk)—as a city without ‘a single national majority, well-established self-identification, or a broadly recognizable mythology,’ and manages to avoid ascribing it one.
