This eclectic dictionary ranges widely through "contemporary" Spanish industry, media, entertainment, politics, the arts, and more, but without any introductory notes it is difficult to determine the editors' criteria for inclusion or intended scope. While many of the people treated are living, others have died within the past two decades. Coverage varies even for entries of the same type. (For instance, although career background, familiar details, and titles of some works may be provided for performers, the entry for Alberto Pl simply states "Coming actor and singer.") People are often, but not always, given dates, and many acronyms are supplied with cross references. The editors tend to provide information most likely to have received popular attention: for instance, the entry for the town Alc sser mentions a recent incident there that resulted in substantial television publicity. This book will be useful as a reference for those seeking brief clarification of topics cursorily mentioned in the current press.
