Dialogues with the Mirror

Overview

Those who begin to see and sense things beyond the dancing shadows and the flickering fire found within the mirror have learned to devour the wonderful sensations that our senses bring to us. These instruments which have allowed us to define our world are also the same ones which deceive us into complacency. Yet knowing this, we continue to remain in front of the mirror and watch the dance of shadows on the silver wall. We trust more in our eyes, ears, noses, tongues, and hands than we do in the actual organ that allows us to interpret the data they bring to us. Our reason is what allows us to use our sensory organs yet we allow ourselves to be deceived by their brightness or their shadows and in doing so we keep ourselves veiled in an illusion designed to blind ourselves to the great miracles that make up the universe and we will remain forever trapped in dialogue with the infinite mirror.

About the Author

Jean-Marc Iyeli Adeyemi Akerele, was born in Washington DC on November 5, 1970 to a Nigerian father and a Congolese mother. Educated in the United kingdom, he is a polyglot,an accomplished painter and a poet who has lived all over the world collecting experiences which up to this point he had only shared with his beloved dog Obera, who alas is no more. In the absence of his beloved canine companion, Jean-Marc felt a strange urge to write Fallen book 1: Separation, his first novel, perhaps since he no longer had a captive audience to bore with his many strange life experiences.
