About the Author

Prof. B. Satyanarayan was born on 10th September, 1938. He has taken his M.A. and Ph.D., Degrees from Osmania University in 1962 and 1973 respectively. He has been working in the University for more than 35 years holding various positions. He is presently working as a Senior Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics, Osmania University. He is simultaneously holding the position of Director/Coordinator, Special Assistance Programme (Sponsored by the University Grants Commission), Department of Economics, Osmania University, during the last six years. Earlier, he worked as Head of the Department of Economics and Chairman, Board of Studies, Osmania University. He is a recognised Research Supervisor guiding M. Phil., and Ph.D., Degrees and a number of Research Scholars are presently working under his supervision, on a variety of problems ranging from Planning, Development Economics, International Trade, Energy, Industry, Family Planning, etc. He has to his credit more than 100 research papers published in a number of academic Journals, besides more than fifty book-reviews published in various academic Journals of repute. He has participated in a number of National and International Seminars. Professor Satyanarayan has undertaken and successfully completed nearly a dozen research projects, sponsored by the Government of India, U.G.C., Planning Commission, Government of Andhra Pradesh, etc. He has recently completed a major research project on "Regional Co-operation Among SAARC Countries with Special Reference to Trade Prospects" sponsored by the UGC, New Delhi. He had the privilege of being invited as a Visiting Professor by the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA (Stwart School of Business) for a period of 3 months during July-October 1994. His name has been published by the Biography International (1992) and Marquis "Who's in the World" (1999). He has authored and edited nearly 10 Books on various aspects of Development Economics.
