Death Waits in Shanghai
A Johnny Falco thriller

The senator's daughter went missing in San Francisco's Chinatown. The FBI turned to Johnny Falco for help.

Falco escaped the life of a gangster at sixteen, finding a new path in the Shaolin Temple in China. Now he seeks to atone for his mobster father's violence. It sounded like the right thing to do, until the search for eighteen-year-old Kristine Mansfield led from a Chinese tong to the triads of China.

Falco and his friends — former IRA terrorist Flanagan and Zulu prince Mzoma — follow a tong leader's son and his sister across the Pacific Ocean, from Hawaii to Japan to Shanghai and Hong Kong. As they dodge numerous attempts on their lives, the chances of Johnny Falco (and the girl) ever returning to sunny California seem increasingly dim.

About the Author

About the author
Wayne Carey, a former pharmaceutical research scientist, is a regular contributor to Quatermain: The New Adventures, published by Airship 27 Production. His passion for Edgar Rice Burroughs, H. G. Wells, Isaac Asimov, Talbot Mundy, Robert E. Howard, and H. Rider Haggard informs and permeates his own fiction. His pulp influences coalesced in his new adventures of Haggard’s seminal adventurer, Allan Quatermain. He has contributed two novels to the expanded Quatermain canon: Allan Quatermain and the Beast Men and Allan Quatermain and the Lightning Bird, as well as a short story, “The Unholy Alliance,” in Volume Five of Quatermain: The New Adventures. Airship 27 has also released Company of Shadows, his novel of modern-day Civil War reenactors caught in a supernatural battle, and classic style space adventures, El’aris and Yokai. Zombie Island, a science fiction horror, was released from Pro Se Productions. His political thriller, Executive Gambit, also from Airship 27, was nominated for the 2021 Pulp Factory Awards. He has appeared in a variety of anthologies including the award-winning Legends of New Pulp Fiction and Julie E. Czerneda’s The Clan Chronicles: Tales From Plexis (DAW).
