Overview

A Story of HOPE That Bridges the Gap Between the Spiritual and Psychological in A Time of Loss, Hopelessness, and Despair.
How many of us have asked God WHY when we or our loved ones are faced with life's challenges? We ask, where is God? How can God allow this to happen? When it seems like all hope is gone and God has abandoned you, how do you find the faith to move on and be strong in the face of despair? Do you become hopeless in these moments? Can you hold on to faith when everything you believed in no longer makes sense? Many of us have lost loved ones and will at some point experience loss in our lives. How do you handle grief and loss in moments of despair and hopelessness? Through understanding the author's experiences and the provision of spiritual and psychological tools, the reader will gain insight into the answers to these questions and more.

About the Author

Dr. Whittaker offers teletherapy in 41 US States where she is a Licensed Psychologist (visit psypact.com for information about specific states). She started her career as an elementary school teacher. As a New York State certified teacher, she felt she was not adequately meeting the needs of students, as they brought challenges to the classroom that could not be handled by a teacher. As a result, she pursued studies in psychology to learn how to address the challenges that inhibit a child’s learning and development. She obtained her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Prior to this, she obtained her M.S. in School Psychology at Queens College and a B.S. in Psychology at Mercy College.
Dr. Whittaker has worked with school-aged populations within schools and private practice settings. Having the opportunity to work with adults and children within the family context created gradual skill shifts in her therapy interest. Thus, although her passion started out with working with children and adolescents, Dr. Whittaker after spending some time providing mental health services for adults and couples have expanded the lines of service provided. To this end, Dr. Whittaker engaged in courses of study to expand her knowledge of working with families, in particular, with couples. Being able to intervene and give hope in a marriage, is one of her greatest joys. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the International Association for Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC), the Center for Apostolic Counseling (CAC) and the Westchester Mental Health Peer Group (WMHPG).
Dr. Whittaker is an IATA Accredited Travel Agent who specializes in emotional wellness travel. With her emphasis on emotional health and self-care, she provides individuals with the opportunity to experience a new and exciting environment while providing tools for individual and interpersonal development.
