It’s been over a year since Megan found herself entangled in a murder—much to everyone’s relief, including her girlfriend Jelena and Detective Paul Bourke. Megan’s latest client, world-renowned romance novelist Claire Woodward, is fascinated by Megan’s own history of catching killers. Claire also just happens to be the murder victim’s literary mentor. So maybe Megan can just sort of stay on the periphery of the case while trying to help out? Just a wee bit without causing too much fuss? Even Detective Bourke would approve since he has personal reasons not to trust Claire. The investigation leads Megan to the victim’s writing group, who think that Claire has plagiarized the poor young lady’s work. And when another member of the group is found dead, Megan will have to step up her sleuthing before the killer decides to write her off for good.

Catie Murphy, who has written numerous award-winning fantasy and Sci-fi books under the pseudonym C. E. Murphy, began writing around age six, when she submitted three poems to a school publication. The teacher producing the magazine selected (inevitably) the one she thought was by far the worst, but also told her—a six-year-old kid—to keep writing, which she has. She has also held the usual grabbag of jobs often seen in an authorial biography, including public library volunteer (at ages 9 and 10; it’s clear she was doomed to a career involving books), archival assistant, cannery worker, and web designer. Writing books is better.

Although Dublin limo driver Megan Malone has been involved in enough cases to be nicknamed "the murder driver," to the relief of her girlfriend Jelena and Detective Paul Bourke, it's been a year since the last case. She's in her favorite café, Accents, when a woman's body tumbles out of a closet. Megan doesn't know the victim, although she's quickly identified as Blathnaid O'Leary. Megan tries to stay uninvolved, in this murder; she even takes a job driving American romance writer Claire, who asks for her personally. After a tour, Megan takes her new client to Accents, where she's to meet with a writers' group, and a young woman she's mentoring named Blathnaid. Despite her curiosity, Megan insists on taking her scheduled vacation time to support Jelena at the St. Patrick's Day Parade. But the couple still ends up meeting with the writing group and Claire, now accused of plagiarizing Blathnaid's writing. When another death occurs, and Megan was the last to see the victim, she realizes she's not only of interest to the Garda, but also to a killer. Limo driver Megan Malone burnishes her reputation as Dublin’s “murder driver” by brushing up against two more corpses.

The first body, which doesn’t even wait till the second sentence of Chapter 1 to tumble out of a closet at the Accents Café, is that of aspiring author Bláthnaid O’Leary, whose hard-to-pronounce first name sparks the first of many discussions about the vagaries of the Irish (or Gaelic) tongue among Megan, who's originally from Texas; her girlfriend, Jelena Nowak, who's Polish; and the members of the writers group who frequent Accents: American Stephanie Burgis, Juliet McKenna, Adrian Tchaikovsky, and Bláthnaid’s friend Sadhbh Flannagan, whose first name poses challenges of its own. The most important writer on the scene, however, is Megan’s new client Claire Woodward, an improbably successful writer of historical romances who asks Orla Keegan, Megan’s grouchy boss at Leprechaun Limos, specifically for the murder driver to take her to several sites she’s scoping out for her latest bestseller. The news that the sample chapters Bláthnaid submitted to the group closely resemble material from Claire’s overdue novel raises a disconcerting question: Which of the two plagiarized from the other? Garda Síochána Det.
